Finally, after 3.5 years, the boat is done. Well, done enough that we can take it out the next time the tide's right. But back to the past week.
The sliding windows and external winches have always been a problem. Thus began a full day of hacking, cutting and a few tubes of Sikaflex....
.... and here are the finished photos. Wheelhouse:
New sliding windows.
Salon.
Galley.
Forward cabin (also the current storage area)
Day tank gauge and pump switch - this is the tank that holds the diesel for the Dickinson cooker.
And the Dickinson cooker.
Old faithful, the woodburner that will come in handy when the diesel runs low.
The forepeak / main storage area - paint, plumbing, wiring, deck fittings, hosing, sealants & adhesives, rope locker, gasket material and power tools.
Galley looking aft.
New winch and clutch location - inside the wheelhouse. All genoa and jib lines can now be controlled while wearing pajamas.....
Rope bags....
And the aft cabin....
Head.
Double bed - the white brightens up the cabin significantly.
Helm position.
Helm position #2
And some external shots....
I might add, the kayaks are a new purchase as well. The tender (arriving tomorrow) is all well and good, but sometimes it's more convenient to go for a paddle around the anchorage..
So that's it for now.... 3.5 years, tens of ££ thousands, 1 relationship, 3 cars and 1 motorbike later, the boat is finally ready to go sailing and this summer looks very promising. Test sail photos to follow....
Well done Nathan! Go for it... soon you will be on a better island. (Russ)
ReplyDeleteThanks Russ - looking forward to bringing it down to SA. The Caribbean awaits....
